Chapter 4Transport
Routes, fares and departures
The network you run, what a seat costs, and the timetable.
Routes
A route is a journey between two terminals, city or interstate, with optional stops along the way. Open Routes, add the route, and set its fare.
Fares
A fare is a rule with a start date: a flat fare for the route, or a fare per stop pair for a route with stops. Set a new fare from a future date and the old one stays in force until then. Every ticket records the fare that applied when it was sold, so a later change never rewrites history.
Fares are always whole naira and kobo, never rounded by the browser. The counter, the website and the reports all read the same fare record.
Departures
A departure is one coach on one route at one time. Departures lists them, soonest first. Schedule one by picking the route, the vehicle, the driver and the time; a repeating timetable can be entered as a schedule that creates departures ahead of time.
A departure moves through its states: scheduled, boarding, departed, arrived, or cancelled. Boarding opens the gate for scanning; departed closes sales. The manifest lists every passenger and seat.
Seats
Switch seat allocation on for a route and every departure on it gets a seat map. The counter and the website pick from the same map, so a seat sold at the park is gone online the same second. Open seating means a count of seats left, no numbers.
